This morning we went to church to celebrate the third Sunday of the advent season, and were treated to a "Christmas Around the World" performance by not only our choir, but the Indonesian and Philippino choirs as well. Choir members came in their native dress, and it was a very colorful combination of dress from China, Japan, Korea, Africa, Indonesia, Philippines and beyond! I especially enjoyed the lively Phillipino Christmas music, and the scriptures read in the native tongues of Latvia, New Zealand, and Korea. Flags from around the world were displayed, and we got a bit of a geography lesson as well. It was truly a reminder that the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can be celebrated in many different ways, in many different languages, in many different countries - even right here in Singapore, where Christianity accounts for only ten percent of the population. JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD IS COME!
